Harriet Kelsall – Bespoke Jewellery, which has studios in rural Hertfordshire and Cambridge, has sourced an array of diamond cuts from Antwerp as part of its custom-made services to clients.
Winner of the Bridal Jewellery Retailer of the Year award in the 2016 UK Jewellery Awards, Harriet Kelsall says committed customer service was at the heart of the accolade which she is proud to have collected at the Hilton Park Lane in London in June.
“When people come here, it’s all about the customer experience – it’s all about their story,” Harriet said, speaking inside the state-of-the-art Hertfordshire design studio which has a workshop, display cabinets, meeting areas for customers and designers, and a coffee shop.
Couples who visit the studio have a story to tell — and this can be the inspiration for a bespoke engagement ring design.
One couple had bonded due to their love for classic cars, in particular a 1967 Volkswagen Beetle whose distinctive headlights inspired the diamond shape in the ring that they chose.
Harriet spoke of the importance of ethical options in custom-made jewellery, such as wedding bands in Fairtrade gold, and ethical rubies from a mine in Tanzania.
She insists that diamonds handled by her business must adhere to the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme.
Harriet bought a variety of diamond cuts when she last visited ADTF in 2014, including rose and princess cuts, and peach diamonds, and looks forward to visiting the show again in 2017.
